NATURAL CORAL
NOT IMITATION — NOT DYED!
in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s
Coral Necklaces
Our Coral is NATURAL and from Taiwan.
Any coral from the Mediterranean will be stated as such.
We DO NoT have bamboo or wood that has been DYED to a certain colour, usually blood red, NOR is it POROUS Coral with RESIN and/or DYED.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
All of our Coral was harvested in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
Restrictions were introduced years later in order to protect the Coral from over harvesting.
Due to these restrictions; only 6,000 Kg was allowed to be harvested in 2014.
That 6,000 Kg is seriously reduced during cleaning and processing into Coral products.
This makes Taiwanese Coral one of the most rare amongst today’s gemstones.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Red Coral is the most sought after and the most imitated by applying a dye to various materials like wood and bamboo etc..
The Internet is saturated with these next to worthless imitations, but which are usually described in a manner that is misleading at best or downright plain fraudulent.
If there ever was a case of “Buyer beware”, then buying Coral is certainly one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our Necklaces are about 42 cm (18½”); the approximate length is stated for each style.
We may be able to supply other lengths, but that depends on the style and if we have extra Coral that will match.
The cost can be calculated by:
1) dividing the price (say $70.00) of the relevant necklace with the length (42 cm) and
2) then multiplying that with the particular length wanted (say 60 cm)
3) PLUS adding $20.00 for re stringing and handling.
Example:
A necklace is priced at $70.00 and 42cm,
but you would like a 60cm necklace.
1) $70.00/42cm = $1.67 per/cm
2) $1.67 per/cm x 60cm = $100.00
3) + $20.00 = $120.00.
Coral bracelets that are matching with most of these necklaces, will soon be added to this page.
